2015 Safety Awards – so far

Gribbins Insulation recently received two safety awards, adding to a long list of citations recognizing the company’s commitment to workplace safety and ongoing safety training.

Indiana Governor’s Workplace Safety Award

On February 18, Gribbins was honored with the Indiana Governor’s Workplace Safety Award for Innovations in Construction. It is the fourth time since 2010 Gribbins has received the award; each time the award was presented for a different safety category.

From the Indiana Department of Labor:
Gribbins created its leading indicator dashboard which tracks critical pre-incident metrics within the company. Prior to implementation, the company only tracked “lagging indicators,” that included first-aid injuries and OSHA-recordable incidents. The dashboard provides monthly data that is used to help evaluate where the company excels as well as where there are needs for additional attention. Dashboard reports are shared with all managers and employees. The company’s employees helped develop this system by participating in employee surveys. This has led to an increase in employee participation in workplace safety and health activities.indiana governor image

Gribbins’s Governor’s Workplace Safety Award was announced at the annual Safety and Health Conference and Exposition held at the Indiana Conference Center in Indianapolis. The award was presented by Indiana Department of Labor Commissioner Rick J. Ruble.
“These companies represent the best of the best,” Ruble said at the event. “They demonstrate a commitment not only to protecting their employees, but also to ensuring employees understand the importance of workplace safety and health. The department is proud to honor these innovative companies.”
Accepting the award from Commissioner Ruble were Jake Gribbins, Gribbins Safety Coordinator; Adam Brown, Gribbins Area Manager; and Trevor Atherton, Gribbins Safety Manager. A list of all winners can be found here.

National Insulation Association Theodore H. Brodie Platinum Safety Award

On March 26, 2015, the National Insulation Association awarded Gribbins Insulation with its highest safety honor, the Theodore H. Brodie Platinum Safety Award, at the 60th annual convention in San Antonio, Texas.  Out of all insulation contractors in the United States, only 14 contractors received this designation. Gribbins has received this designation annually since its inception in 2011.

NIA’s Executive Vice President/CEO Michele Jones noted, “NIA believes that safety is a cornerstone of our industry. We are honored to recognize our member companies that take steps to make safety a top priority. We would like to congratulate all of this year’s winners.”
Throughout the judging process, applicant companies remain anonymous and winners are evaluated on the basis of their overall safety program, means of communication, and safety policy. The judging panel of expert safety professionals includes Health and Safety Committee leadership and NIA’s General Counsel and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Expert Gary Auman of Dunlevey, Mahan & Furry. All applicant companies receive an individualized and detailed Safety Training Analysis Results (STAR) Report.

Jim Gribbins, president, and Brian Willett, executive vice president, were there to accept the award.
