2020 Indiana Governor’s Workplace Safety Award

Gribbins Insulation was awarded the Indiana Governor’s Workplace Safety Award for the 8th consecutive year at the Indiana Safety and Health Conference in Indianapolis, Indiana. This year, Gribbins Insulation’s award was for “Innovations in Construction.” Adam Mayer, Grant Gribbins, and Brian Willett attended the awards luncheon on February 26, 2020, to accept the award. They are pictured in the photo with Indiana Lieutenant Governor Suzanne Crouch.

Gribbins Recertified as a VPP Star

Gribbins Insulation earned recertification as a ‘STAR’ participant in the Indiana Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) for work performed by its team at Eli Lilly Company in Indianapolis. The VPP initiative is administered by Indiana Department of Labor (IDOL), which works cooperatively with OSHA and employers to proactively prevent fatalities, injuries and illnesses. According to a news release issued by IDOL announcing the recertification, the VPP is implemented “through a system focused on prevention, control, analysis and training committed to worker involvement.”

The ‘STAR’ recertification was presented to Gribbins August 30, 2017 during an annual field meeting and luncheon for the Gribbins Eli Lilly team in Indianapolis. The ‘STAR’ was bestowed by Rick J. Ruble, Commissioner, Indiana Department of Labor. Other key IDOL representatives were also in attendance. On hand to receive the ‘STAR’ were Jim Gribbins, President and Founder of Gribbins Insulation, and Gribbins Safety Manager, Trevor Atherton.

According to the IDOL news release, “Gribbins Insulation’s Eli Lilly Indianapolis site has an impressive clean slate for OSHA-recordable injuries and illnesses, with no recordable cases or ‘Lost Work Day’ cases for the previous four years. The national industry average Total Case Incidence Rate (TCIR) is 2.6 per 100 workers.” Gribbins received praise from IDOL Commissioner Rick J. Ruble, who enthused, “The company truly demonstrates how a culture of workplace safety and health can have a positive influence.”

Gribbins Insulation Earns Highest National Safety Award

Evansville, Indiana – Gribbins Insulation achieved Platinum, the highest level in safety excellence awarded by the National Insulation Association (NIA). The presentation took place on March 30, 2017 in Phoenix, Arizona at NIA’s 62nd annual convention. Gribbins Insulation received the Theodore H. Brodie Distinguished Safety Award in the Contractor category. As the only national award for outstanding safety performance in the mechanical insulation industry, the Theodore H. Brodie accolade represents a significant achievement. NIA established the award more than a decade ago, recognizing top companies with structured safety programs designed to ensure employee well-being and create safe working environments.

Gribbins Insulation is noted for its robust safety point system program, an initiative enthusiastically embraced by employees company-wide. Providing the highest levels of safety is not only embedded in the company’s mission, it’s a practice that has earned Gribbins Insulation dozens of regional and national awards.

Gribbins Awarded Highest Honor for Safety Excellence

Indianapolis, Indiana – At the annual banquet May 4, 2017 in Indianapolis for one of the largest gatherings of construction executives and safety leaders in Indiana, the Coalition for Construction Safety (CCS) awarded its highest honor to Gribbins Insulation. Gribbins is the only specialty contractor ever to receive the Crystal Eagle Excellence in Safety trophy. This win also marks the second time the company has earned the coveted award. Selection was made by a panel of judges who reviewed all Excellence in Safety nominees; criteria included field inspections and statistical evaluations. Noted for its commitment to safety, Gribbins is the recipient of numerous safety awards. Accolades include: six-time winner of the CCS Safety Leader Award, four-time recipient of the Indiana Governor’s Workplace Safety Award, Indiana Construction Association Gold Summit Safety Award winner, eleven straight wins in the Marathon Petroleum Co. Illinois Refining Division General Manager’s Contractor Safety Excellence Award competition, recipient of the National Insulation Association Theodore H. Brodie Platinum Safety Award, and dozens more. Company Senior Vice President Mark Gribbins currently serves on the CCS board.

Fit Tight Covers Earns Governor’s Safety Award

Evansville, Indiana – Fit Tight Covers is among the nine organizations statewide to earn an Indiana Governor’s Workplace Safety Award. The distinction, awarded March 3, 2017 at the Indiana Safety Conference in Indianapolis, acknowledges proactive efforts to eliminate and reduce worker exposure to occupational safety and health hazards. This achievement honors Fit Tight Covers in the category of Education and Outreach (Internal) for General Industry.

Fit Tight Covers is committed to promoting stellar levels of safety. Ongoing internal training programs are in place to advance safety awareness and practices among the company’s employees.

Fit Tight Covers, located in Evansville, Indiana, manufactures removable and reusable thermal insulation covers for commercial and industrial mechanical piping and equipment. It is the only insulation cover fabrication company in the Midwest capable of meeting nationwide demand.
